Now remember-It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

We have been so busy the past several weeks that I haven't had time to post any pictures. In preparation for our Girl's Night Out this Friday, I spent time "fluffing" last night and snapped some shots around the shop. We have sold soooo much that I can't believe how full we are!! And boxes are still coming in!! Plus, I have four artists bring in their jewelry, purses and special painted pieces tomorrow night. I'm still trying to figure out how to fit this all in!!!
Although we have gone through so many of our Lori Mitchell figures, there are still some scattered about. I know next year to order at least twice as many. The never ending learning curve of retail.

I have always wanted to have a porch swing (actually, I would love one inside my house!) and was happy with the way this turned out. It has been fun to display around and seems like everything that goes on it--sells!

We finally got our big shipment of new book titles which make great gifts. In fact, gifts is what it is all about right now. The five big boxes that showed up at the beginning of the week were packed with gift items and more are expected to come in today and tomorrow. Oh, and then more garland and ornaments and....! also have been delivered. Phew!

I had some spare (!) time so made up some labels for old bottles and was happy with how they turned out. I call this my "Captain Kangaroo time". Many of you are too young to have known Captain Kangaroo but others of us may remember the Captain telling us it was time to get out our "Crayolas". Oh!! It was my favorite part of the show!!!

Another "whatsit?" A friend of mine that comes up with the greatest, most unusual items brought this by and I thought it was the best architectural wall art. Can you tell what it is? Besides a conversation piece!!?

Hope you can all make it by for Girls Night Out. It will be a great way to have fun and check off items on your gift list at the same time. I always love seeing familiar faces but I know how busy this time of year is with company Christmas parties, etc. Two regular guests were in yesterday and told me they love to come in to good goods because it "soothes their souls". And these women work in a church!! Go figure!
Best,
Cheri

Christmas is coming..to good goods!! Or how to prepare for a great Open House!

Preparing for the biggest event of the year--no stress there! I can't tell you how many lists I've made trying to anticipate each tiny detail so that everything will fall into place seamlessly. Of course, realizing I hadn't ordered enough of this or that led to some late (frantic!) ordering. And finding out that the garland was not going to ship threw a wrench into my plans for smooth sailing. But with the blessed help of wonderful, understanding vendors and reps all should be here in time . Add in the antiques I've been hunting down:

...and box after box filling up the back room...
Just wait until you see!!!!! Hope to see you all Friday evening or Saturday!!

Best,
Cheri

BOOFEST!!

Good goods & co dares you to attend Boofest!! Set on the evening of the full moon: Wednesday, September 26 from 6:30 to 8:30pm, this is a fun and silly way to kick off the fall season. We'll be concocting some delightfully frightful refreshments and yes, somehow wine will be included! And, if you come in any sort of costume-we'll have a special treat for you!! hee hee hee

We will be holding back some special inventory for Boofest but there is plenty out now. The ever-popular mini pumkin pods are selling like crazy and the Lori Mitchell figurines are in and adorable as usual. Crows-or should I say ravens-owls, ghosts, some great fall candles and more are out and boxes are showing up daily. so you don't need to wait til Boofest to show up-we'll welcome you anyday!!!
On a heavier note, I've seen that Kandor/Lavendar has closed both their downtown and Eagle locations. Any independant business like mine should hate to see that. I don't know the owners but I hope all is well with them and that they are okay.
Until Boofest then-
Take care!!

News from Good Goods & co

Well, I am finally making time to create a spot on the web that friends can log onto and see what is new at the shop.

And right now it is Halloween and Fall. I've always disliked the fact that retailers have seasonal items out long before the holidays (like the Christmas inventory we are seeing on shelves -in September!!! puleeez!!) So I, in my infinite wisdom, hold off until after Labor Day-despite the clamoring of customers!!-then I am panic stricken because it is taking me so long to get everything out. Phew! So I stayed VERY late (early) at the store last night and redid pretty much everything. Ninety percent of what was clogging up the storage room is now on the floor, the rest will be out by this weekend. More shipments are still coming in..so I'm told by the vendors (what are they thinking?? They can't ship late!!)

All should be in place for "Boofest" on Wednesday evening, September 26!! Scheduling for the full moon seemed appropriate for this spooky, fun event. We'll hold back some especially "scary" pieces and concoct eerie finger (literally!) finger foods. This is our way of saying good bye to summer and the start of the autumn/holiday seasons. More on that later!!

Hope each of you can find time to pop in and see what is new. Until then, take good care!
