Second Anniversary!!

An anniversary, as much as the idea of having "made it this far", is about thanking the people that have supported good goods the past two years. I have the very best customers!!!

We'll start the party on Saturday, June 21 with "pour your own" mimosas, lemon bars, and, as always at one of my parties --something chocolate!!! Everything, everything, everything in the store will be on sale with discounts from 10% to 60%. You won't want to miss this!!! The sale will then last until Friday, June 27.

In preparation for this stupendous event, we've been restocking, fluffing and unpacking new merchandise. I've been holding back some "new" old items to bring out, too. I've added some pictures to give you an idea of what is changing in the store but since we have been selling some large pieces (hurray!) and having to redo-again and again!--I can't promise it will still look like this in two weeks!!

Old auction paddles. How many auctions have I been to and I never got to use one of these cool oldies. I snatched them up when I saw them!

I'd posted these cubbies when they were still filthy. After hours of cleaning (with steel wool!) and oiling, they went out on the floor and sold in less than 24 hours!! Sold

A new cupboard to replace the cubbies-Adorable and fantastic storage. Sold

Another new cupboard top and table. (It's now stocked with starfish and potpourri.

My favorite thing in the store at this point. This solid brass chandelier was inspired by the austere design of turn of the century lighting. Comes with six Edison style light bulbs and is made from reclycled materials.

Herbs to be planted in pots made from reclaimed concrete bags. How green! Comes complete w/ seeds.

Jewelry made by my long time best friend, Judy, using vintage buttons, optometrists lenses, buckles and baubles. More on the way!!

We so look forward to seeing each and every one of you on the 21st. You are each so unique and dear that I truly mean it when I say: It won't be a party without you!!

Fun stuff!

Just when I promise myself that I must order sooo carefully because of all the bad economic news we hear about constantly---I find all this adorable new stuff that I just have to get in the store for all of you to see!! Plus, vendors are offering some great incentives to buy (IF you buy lots!!!) but, hey--you can't pass up some of their deals!

Can you see the dragonflies in the above picture? Ah!! Too cute and we've had them in what? Three or four days and I already reordered them. Totally whimsical. The velveteen birds showed up the same day-those are Elaine's new favorites!

Customers ask how often we get in new merchandise so let me take a minute to detail my carefully laid plans. There are no plans. I have a rough budget each month and let me tell you-it gets spent. I place orders almost everyday I am in the store so we expect FedEx and UPS to stop each day. In fact, it's a letdown when they drive on past. That explains why we always hear "You've gotten so much new stuff in!" Because we always ARE getting new merchandise!!

On a personal note: here is a shot of my deck and enormous wisteria this year. My husband trimmed (say removed almost all of it) and I think all the energy went into producing these blooms. They are about 18 inches long. I'm beginning to look like I have very green thumbs!

Events are being planned for the summer months-notably our "Second Anniversary Sale & Celebration" in mid June. I make a big deal out of that one! Please note that we will be closed on Monday, May 26, for the Memorial Day holiday.

Hope each of you can stop in to say hi and take a look around soon. A gal was leaving the shop recently and told me she felt like she had just "taken a mini vacation"!! I about melted!!!

Take Care!

Good goods at good goods

Well the first order of business, of course, is Mothers Day and it's less than a week away. Not to worry: the store is packed, literally, with out of the ordinary gifts any mom would love. A reminder that we have "Wish Lists" so that you can get exactly what you want this year!!!

We got the four big boxes of new topiaries and plants open up, watered and on the floor. They are just beautiful this time. Even the smallest Angel vine plants are massive so the store looks lush and green and "mahvalous".

Then a dealer I love to see show up at the door came by and I couldn't resist buying three truckloads of furniture from him. took hours getting it all in place ( some of it went home for a bit of medical attention) and even then the back room is crammed.

Take a look at this huge piece from an old Nampa hardware store. One hundred and twenty cubbies plus more storage below. Each cubby has a metal slot that will hold a label and, being all real wood, this is going to clean up into a beautiful, unusual statement!!

After the store is redone on such a large scale, I love to take some pictures to entice everyone to come in. I had not been taking good photos my last few tries so I finally managed to hold the camera steady and get some clear shots.

We've been selling wheatgrass packaged by "moi" in little muslin bags. If you've never grown any of this, it really is fun. It's so fast to sprout and will be several inches tall within 10 days so even impatient kids get a kick out of it.

Pea pods, new journals, fun crown hooks, new scents on some spring candles, etc etc. Come see!!!

Take care & enjoy this great spring weather we're having!

After tax deadline......

Spring in Idaho means 70 degrees today and snow the next. We aren't waiting for Spring anymore. We're in the thick of it!!! So of course, that means--have a party!! (see how my logic is kicking in here??) Plus (and maybe even a better reason for a celebration) is getting past the 15th of April. Gees!!!

This Saturday, April 19th all day long we'll be serving up mimosas and chocolate. We've gotten in lots of "new" old things, new watches, candles, books, jewelry etc, etc so we want everyone to stop in to ooh and aah. Plus, Judy with Miche bags will be here with the coolest new bags with changeable covers. I love these!! You can go to http://www.michebag.com/ for a sneak peak but they show better in person. Two enterprising women from Utah came up with the idea and they have only been on the market a short time. Can't believe it took someone so long to think of this!!

I took lots of pictures to post so you could see all the changes in the store but I must have the most unsteady hand with a camera-Yep blurry. Darn. That means you all will have to stop in and see for yourselves!!! There are some familiar faces we've been missing. Hint, hint!
Take care-

Spring Fluffing

So today I am tired. I was at the store late (early..my husband says I got home at 4 am!!) I have been looking at this store for some time now and wanted to do some major changing and rearranging. Well, the other day three pieces of furniture went out the door so it seemed like a good time to start. (plus I know that Elaine will be working today so I can sleep in..ha!!)

What a mess that job was!! Inventory gets pulled out of cupboards, piled over there, tables moved, an old window attached to a cabinet to give it a new look and then all those piles of merchandise rearranged, perfectly, in a new spot. I can't leave until the bathroom is cleaned!!!

Decided to put wall clocks on sale as well as the remaining Easter inventory and our Tea Forte product line. I need to go get an email out to everyone about that after I finish here. Spring break is not my favorite time as it affects sales in the store-noticeably!!! With boxes coming in with our new lines--I need to figure out how to pay for them!!! I love this job!!!!

Take care,
Cheri

How many times have I sworn to be more diligent about updating this blog?? Life just gets"in the way" sometimes and recently it has thrown some pretty pleasant surprises my way.
We are so ready for Spring and good goods is gearing up in a big way. The jasmine topiarys are blooming and smell heavenly which makes us long for winter to be gone for this year.
As you know, I am constantly looking for that special something that other shops DON'T have and lately have found merchandise with a much "cleaner" look than we've had before. Look for this in the coming months along with new French apothecary style candles ( in "Green Green Grass and Fresh Air), great new book titles and unique touches to freshen up your home and garden.
Hope you stop in soon to be inspired!!

Best, Cheri

Retail Therapy

We've been hearing from customers lately that they have stopped in the shop because they needed to do something for themselves. Needed fun. Retail therapy. That type of response gives me the most satisfaction in what I do. Choosing a retail store as a treat isn't unusual--but choosing good goods & co --when there are plenty of shops in town--is such a validation.

Speaking of fun, I've added a few pictures from our "Girl's Night Out" this past Friday. What a delightful group of women. They went ga-ga over Debi's "Off the Wall Lettering" which really is "off the wall". Sure she does walls but also art plaques (awesome) and lampshades (way awesome) and...everything! I took home the "dish soap" dispenser that remined me of a Williams Sonoma oil bottle. Thanks Debi!!!

We plan to have another one of these unique events on March 14. Vicki will be bringing in her "Worlds Best Fudge Sauce" for us to sample/make a meal out of it. So chocolate lovers-mark down that date!!!!

With this break in winter weather, I'll finally be able to order in some live plants & topiaries. Halleluiah!! They always add that spring feeling to the shop especially when mixed in with our new merchandise. Look for those next week!
Until then-you all take good care.
