I'm only dreamin'.......

I tend to daydream quite a bit...and redecorate: my home, my yard, my store, your house, your front yard...! How many times have I imagined what my neighbors house would look like if they pulled those two overgrown pines out. Ha!! You'd see the house instead of the garage. I have no idea what the house is like!! Isn't that funny?! Obviously, I think about different things than some other people!
Like this porch--Love it. How sweet is that?! But then, what do I notice? The porch light looks too low. You saw that right away, too, didn't you? I could relax here for many hours though..after the light was raised............

And this bathroom. This is what my guest bath is going to look like. I already have some of the tile. But I'm passing on the black moldings and the mirror will be vertical. ( is it any wonder that my taxes aren't done yet?? Seriously!!)

How about this kitchen??? Ouch. Love every inch of it!

My dream stores. Look closely, you may recognize some of this stuff!! Look even closer and you'll see some of this in the store before too long!

Enough dreaming for now. It's time to go have some real dreams!

Dog Days of Summer

I'm lovin' this cooler weather--and even the days of rain. My activity level soars when I'm not pouring sweat. I mean perspiring.........

There were some good estate sales this past week and I've picked up some fun odds & ends to bring into the shop. Vendors are starting to ship again, finally. I've never had so many backorders before. In fact, the Fall/Halloween (oh, and some Christmas) merchandise is arriving but I'm not showing you any of that yet. No, I'm just not quite ready for that. Anticipation!!

This & that. Old silver, linens, clocks, ribbons.............

OLD silver

Yes, these are garden stakes, but I envisioned them as frames.

Some new wire shelving-just love this look.

Yea--new cubbies!!

Thanks to all of you who responded to my SOS!! Bless your hearts--you are THE best!!!
And be sure to check back soon for updates and a few things that are in the works.
Take care!!

ONE of my Dream Homes!

If you've ever checked out some of my favorite blogs on my sidebar (on the left) you won't be surprised to find that one of my dream homes (there are others!) would be a small, old home done all in shades of white. And stark as can be. There is something so hushed and soft about these homes that just appeals to my quest for serenity. I've borrowed some pictures from Swedish blogger, Anneli, to show you what I'm talking about!

Pages of botanicals, hung with a clothespin, tack & twine. So simple.

and shiny white wood floors...

Tarnished silver & ragged linen..this is so humble
and at the same time elegant.

I'm looking for this lamp and metal chair!

Her little boy's room-I bet it's not always so tidy!
You can see all of Anneli's pictures here and even read it if you speak Swedish!
( hint: I sometimes use Goggle Translator!!)
What do you think? Love it, hate it, ho hum? What do you dream of?
Have fun!

I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy.........

There is something about red, white and blue that screams summer for me. I love it, love it love it. Every flowerpot, wreath, door basket I own has flags in it for the duration of the season. (well, they often stay year round!) At least a week before the 4th, buntings go up outside, decorations are inside and on the deck for the BBQ and they stay up for a week or so after the holiday!!! Maybe it has something to do with being a military kid and all the pomp & circumstance that went with that. My dad was the Ops Manager of Otis Air Force Base on Cape Cod when I was young and that era had a huge impact on me. I especially remember Senator John F. Kennedy flying into the base and the big deal it was to go see him!! I'm fond of beaches and lots of water, history and New England, period. And that's how I explain the sailboats, too!

I always try to come up with something a bit different for each season and when I really thought about July 4th, New England came to my mind. And sailboats. Lobster. Shells. The smell of the ocean. So I did what I could to reproduce those memories.

This is actually the second batch of my homemade sailboats/pond boats as the first group sold out during our Anniversary Brouhaha this past week end. I was happy that so many folks "got it"!! Now for others, the remembrance of America's birthday brings back other traditions and I encourage you all to play it up this year. Our country is somewhat "wounded" but the ideals are still in place.

Get the family together for a picnic in the park, watch fireworks, eat a huge slice of watermelon and make good memories for your children and grandchildren. I'm sure when I was young, there were problems with my country that I just plain wasn't aware of.

But I know, at the time, I was positive that I lived in the best country in the world. And most days, I still feel the same way.

Have a fabulous summer!!!
Take care-
Cheri
