To Market and etc.......

Off to Market in Las Vegas tomorrow for five days...it's going to be quiet in Boise for a few days...

I've never been to this Market so it should be an interesting adventure.  I'm meeting up with my sister there which is an adventure in itself.   She has more energy than 489 two year olds.  Plus, she is crazy.  Really.  She will tell you that herself.

It's certainly an interesting building, isn't it?  If this is anything like past Markets, I'll probably be lost and turned around the entire time we're there.  Just so I find the showrooms that serve food and cocktails have great merchandise. I'll tell you all about it when I get back next week.

We've been getting new shipments in and keeping the store stocked.  It's been a good summer here at good goods.  Here's a quick look around:

And as soon as I get back, the preparations for our
7th Anniversary Sale & Celebration
will begin.  (August 10 & 11--more info to come)

Another load of antiques will be arriving from Indiana..and I'm told these things will be in the trailer:
Cool old bed, huh?

Do you love this desk?  I love this desk.

Old snowshoes-COMPLETE!

And an eight foot farm table.  Look at the width of those boards on top.
Yum--this is a good one!

That's what's happening in my world over the next few weeks.  Fun!!!
Stop in and buy something while I'm gone.  Say "hi" to Melissa and make sure she's not getting in trouble.
Before I sign off, I'll share one of my favorite new tags with you:

Take care!!

I'm in tatters....shadoobie

I'm not sure I've ever been as shattered as Mick Jagger but I felt like I might have been close this past several weeks!  It's all this guys fault:

My brother in law, Greg, arrived from Indiana to bring the 21st century to good goods.
  We are officially computerized.
See how hard he is working?? (actually, he's not.  He's playing around with a vintage Japanese toy I found that measures how "hot" you are.  Greg is easily distracted by precision equipment....)

Greg arrived via truck hauling a trailer stuffed with antiques and good old rusty junk packed by Pam, my sister. Pam is an over achiever in her own right and now the store was looking like this:

 And this:

Ok, so hours and hours of deligent work on my part...have brought the store back to a semblance of normal. (and we all know that "normal is is the eye of the beholder".  Let's not get carried away here!)
You can now walk through the shop mostly unobstructed.
Stop in and try it for yourself!
(and I'll tell you a great story about Melissa and the "hot" meter!)

Stay cool,

Get ready...it's a long one.............

Lots of news this time.  And pictures.

Now, I know it seems like July 4th isn't going to be until the middle of August, but folks, that celebration is three and a half weeks away.  We're stocked but have already been selling so don't procrastinate too long and miss out on something good.

I really concentrated on ideas to dress up the outside this year.
After all, that's where we usually find ourselves on the 4th.

 Three cheers!

New "everyday" product has been coming in..

Of course, just love anything that has a crown!

Wreath. with paper flowers!

Cupcake stands have reappeared.

Sweet new birdhouses.

Ninety six cubbies in seven feet of space!
Decide quick because there is a space in my house for this!!
Sold

Rusty bedsprings to use indoors..or out!

Lovebirds!  We're especially fond of these sweeties!

*****************************************************************

And now for:
SUMMER EVENTS!!!

Because of some big changes at good goods (more below) our Anniversary Sale won't be held until August this year.  After I get back from Market. No complaining! Nope, stop!

Cheri's Birthday Fun!
Tuesday, July 17
10-6
Each year, on my birthday, I come up with some fun way for you to save some cash.
I feel this is quite generous...considering it is MY birthday, after all!!
More details to come.

7th Anniversary Sale and Celebration!
Friday, August 10th--?
Saturday, August 11th-11-5

Still deciding on hours for Friday.
During the day?  An evening cocktail party? Hmmmm  What do you think?

*************************************************************************

We are coming into the age of technology at good goods.  The days of hand written receipts is soon to be gone.  At the end of June we are switching to a fancy, schmancy Point of Sale system.
Just like the grown ups!!
This (I'm told) will free up so much time for me and give me access to reports that will allow me to micro manage the bejesus out of this business.
No really, it's information I need that now takes up hours and hours every month.
Congratulations are in order!  Congrats, Cheri.
(Do we still get our chocolate?)
Yes, yes......

Take care of yourselves, come see us and enjoy the summer!
XXXOOO,
Cheri

National Small Business Week-May 20-26

As a very small business owner, I appreciate the attention Washington shines on the little guy this week.  I really do.  Unfortunately...I just became aware of this "celebration" today, halfway through the week!  Hmmm. I must have missed all that advertising...........

Gene Marks wrote a great column on the Huffington Post today, however, that celebrates big businesses' roll in American economics.  We often demonize those behemoths unfairly.  Marks states that one-half of American employees work for large corporations.  What does this means to small business?  The big guys provide the wages that buy from little businesses.

Don't ever take this as my approval for not buying local any chance you can!

And that takes care of that!!

Hope to see you during "our" week!
Best,
Cheri

New! At good goods

Our "Not Your Typical Tea" was this past Saturday and for once, I remembered to take a few pictures of the "set up".

Tea sandwiches, lemon bars, eclairs, etc plus tea and "tea".

Our first guests dug right in and then--all hell broke loose and the store was packed.  What a hoot it was.  I tell you, these gals were at their best that day.  Annie & her mom, Linda, entertained everyone for awhile and made me cry- I was laughing that hard.  Women never cease to amaze and uplift me!!

Here is a short tour around the shop as we have so much new and different in now.  Of course, my straggler orders are now showing up...I have issues with getting everything ordered to show up at the correct time. (hey, I'm new at this)

Now angel vine isn't new to good goods but some containers to put it in are.(hmmm, think Ms. Cowden from 11th grade English would be cringing after that sentence...)

Cubbies!!  Always a favorite here. 7' X 4' and 96 cubs.

Attention getting yardstick products just arrived today.  These are priced right.

Three sizes of planters!

Canvas art w/ bees and butterflies.

Our sunshine corner is filling up nicely.

I just loved the yardstick birdhouse.

Embroidered pillows with motifs to fit this season.  It's here folks!  As soon as our banners show up:

The rest of the patriotic/July 4th will be brought out from the back room.  Where does the time go?!

Love to all of you,
Cheri
